Why seek therapy?

Therapy is usually sought by those who are truly unhappy, unsatisfied, uncertain or feeling trapped by their life situations and their environments. Some people have negative emotions because they have an illness or they feel trapped by a relationship with another person such as an employer, a parent, or a spouse. Others feel they have been forgotten or abandoned; some feel they have even been forsaken by God. Some people feel they have been cheated by fate and that they do not deserve their economic situation, illness, or other hardships that accompany their situation. Many seek help because they are having difficulty dealing with everyday life after traumas such as abuse, victimization (crime), or war. Therapy is for these individuals; it offers hope where there was hopelessness. It allows choice in helplessness. It gives happiness to those who live in sorrow. It brings compassion where there was hate. It provides forgiveness to the unforgivable. Most importantly, therapy provides a way out of a self-imposed trap.
